Founded in 2020 by Ariel Kim and Minnie Zhang, the studio is now run by an executive team of seven. Aldwin Li and Kaya Dierks are this year's Co-Directors. Aldwin Li is nineteen, an English Literature student in the University of St. Andrews, and a sharer of words. He has attended programs at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp and Iowa Young Writers' Studio, and his work has been published on the Young Poets' Network. Kaya Dierks is an incoming freshman at Yale University. A YoungArts Double-Finalist in Writing and five-time Scholastic National Gold Medalist, her prose appears in The Adroit Journal, SmokeLong Quarterly, GASHER Journal, and elsewhere. She has taken first place in competitions run by The New York Times, Columbia College Chicago, and The Fitzgerald Museum, and her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Ada Wang is a 16 year old from Long Island, New York. She's currently a junior at Jericho High School. In her free time, she enjoys binge watching C-dramas and listening to music. She has held various leadership positions, which have all provided her with strong and varied experiences in business, specifically marketing. Vicky Wang is a senior from Jericho, New York. She loves photography, design, and music. Her passion for design has helped earned her team a chance to compete at state level competitions. She also loves photography and likes to spend time snapping photos of her setting. When she is not creating, Vicky loves playing badminton, catching up on dramas, and of course watching animal videos until 3 am. Raised in Richmond, Virginia, Minnie Zhang is a Chinese-American writer and amateur astrologist studying at Brown University. She founded the Incandescent Studio alongside Ariel Kim and directed its operations for two consecutive years. Her work is published and/or forthcoming in The Lindenwood Review, Ephimiliar Journal, and The Best Teen Writing of 2020.
Ariel Kim is a freshman at Yale University. The Founder and former Director of The Incandescent Review as a whole, she spearheaded the Studio with Minnie Zhang and served as Director for its inaugural year. With work in The Adroit Journal, The National Poetry Quarterly, The Apprentice Writer, and more, she was a finalist in the Virginia B. Ball Creative Writing Competition, a three-time runner-up for the New York Times Summer Reading Contest, and a double National Scholastic Medalist.
Andrea Salvador is a Filipino student and writer, split between Manila and Melbourne. She served as the Studio's Curriculum Director in 2021. An alumna of the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program, her work appears in [subliminal], Élan Literary Magazine, Galliard International Review, and more, and has been recognized by Ringling College of Art + Design, Columbia College Chicago, and Interlochen Arts Academy.
